Fashion Colour Hair Care

For any kind of Fashion Coloured Hair fading is inevitable but here are seven tips to help your colour last.

HEALTHY HAIR

Good colour starts with healthy hair. While lightening your hair isn’t the best way to start, it is necessary to do in order to achieve a bright/fashion colour. Unhealthy, damaged hair will not hold colour well. You may make it from black hair to pink in a week by lightening your hair twice a day but that pink won’t hold because your hair is just too damaged. Be patient with your journey from dark hair to coloured hair. Make sure to nurture your hair. Hair masks and repair products are your best friends!

QUALITY COLOUR:

After healthy hair, the next most important thing is good quality Colour! At Ebony Empire we use only the best quality Colours on the market! With the strongest holding power that is nourishing on your hair, our professional Colours will last longer and keep your hair healthier then store brought Colours.

COOL WATER

Always rinse with cool water. This is actually the most important tip. If you skip all other tips (please don’t, especially healthy hair!) this is the one to follow. Warm water opens the hair cuticle allowing the colour to escape. You do not need to rinse your hair with ice cold water, but in reality, the colder the better. Cold water also helps reduce Colour bleeding if you have more than one colour, otherwise your hair colour will just turn into a mess similar to when you mix different colours of paint together. Also make sure to wait at least 72 hours before your first shampoo after colouring!! The longer the better! Make it noted that swimming in chlorinated or salt water is awful for your hair colour. For good measures, just keep your hair dry as much as possible and avoid hot water!

USE QUALITY PRODUCTS

Avoid shampoos with sulfates and styling products with alcohol. Sulfates and alcohol-based products are two huuuuge things that will fade any hair colour. Keep shampooing to a minimum. Shampoo still strips your hair of its natural oils, as well as the colour. When shampooing apply it to the roots only and avoid the ends of your hair as your ends will be the first to fade. If you’re lucky enough to not have an oily scalp, skip shampooing every other day and use a dry shampoo on your off days.

COLOURED CONDITIONER

If colour pigment is added to your conditioner you’ll be depositing pigment every time you condition. This only applies if your hair is a solid colour, or a mix of the same colours in different shades. This is also a great idea because you’re able to leave conditioner in your hair for longer without running the risk of fading it. Healthier hair + brighter colour = win/win!

AVOID HEAT STYLING

If you must style your hair using heat, use a heat protectant!. Also adding an argan oil when using hot styling tools helps to protect the colour as well.

AVOID THE SUN

Avoid prolonged exposure to those sun rays! Just like your skin, the sun isn’t necessarily good for your hair colour. Try wearing a hat if you’ll be spending a long time in the sun. There are also UV protection sprays for your hair.
